12 - The Supplementary Draft (SD) – Adding an Eighth Player

12 a) (New – 2025/26) On January 1^st the NHLP will hold a Supplementary Draft (SD), with each team adding one additional player.

b) The SD order will be posted on the NHLP Homepage, based on the frozen league standings at noon on December 26th. The 36^th place team (last overall) in the NHLP standings on December 26^th will receive the 1^st pick in the draft. The 35^th place team will draft 2nd, etc. until the first overall team in the standings selects 36^th.

c) If two teams are tied in the NHLP standings, the team’s GM with fewer overall points in the pecking order will pick first, then the team with the fewest overall goals scored from their roster (of the tied teams) picks first. If still tied, the team that drafted later in the first round of the draft will pick first.

d) On the day of the SD, players selected must be available to be picked from the Minors according to NHLP Minor Availability rules, and Player Tracking, no different than picking players from the Minors in a Waiver pick, or at a meeting. Players gone twice are not eligible to be selected.

e) To be eligible, players must have five (5) points or less on SD day. Points accrued on SD draft day do not count in a player’s total. IE – If a player has 5 points on the morning on January 1^st, but gets 3 points in a 2 PM game, that player is considered a 5-point player and will be eligible.

f) The SD draft will start at 11 AM on January 1^st. Each team will be allotted 15 minutes to make its pick. Each GM only has three picks, but this is not the type of draft where we are waiting for GM’s to pick if they had a late night or are not around. If you do not pick in your allotted time, you can pick whenever you’re available, but the draft moves on, passing you by. With 15 minutes allotted to each team the draft will end at 8 PM on January 1^st, or sooner if all GMs are available and pick in a timely manner.

g) Any GM that has not selected players by 9 PM on January 1^st will automatically have their pick(s) filled with the highest scoring available 5-point or less player on the official NHL.com points stats page.

10 - Divisional Standings for Playoffs, Deductions for Non-Playoff Players – NHLP Divisions Next Season

(New – 2025/26) At the conclusion of the NHLP regular season and to determine the NHLP playoff seeding in each division, conference, and the league's official final standings for next year’s division seeding the NHLP will set the final standings using the following formulae:

a) (New – 2025/26) The standings (1^st to 6^th seeding) in each division are first set based on the highest scoring 8-player playoff teams, seeded 1 to 6^th, if all teams have full 8-player playoff rosters. Next, the highest scoring of the 7-player playoff teams gets the highest remaining seed with all non-playoff players being 100% point penalties. If the standings are still not set, next the highest scoring 6 man teams, then 5 man teams, etc. will determine the final standings.

In short, regardless of point totals, teams are seeded as follows: all 8 playoff player teams first, then all 7 playoff player teams, etc.

b) To determine the Division in each Conference for next season the 5^th place teams and the two teams that win the first round stay in their current Division for the next season. The team finishing 6^th and two first round losing teams move to the same Conferences other Division for the next season. This allows the NHLP GMs to all be in the same Divisions, or different Divisions annually.
