NHLP Cup Threat Ratings For 2010/11(Updated For 25 Games, 30% (Percent) of the Season and Transaction 30)

The NHLP has always came out with the Cup Threat Rating (CTR).  The CTR is also known as the Power Rankings in the NHLP.  It is a time perfected, skill based, best prediction of what teams are the best and what teams have the best chance of winning it all.  It has been very accurate over the years, however 2009/10 wasn't exactly bang on.  It is true that the CTR holds strongest when upsets do not occur in the playoffs and Philadelphia being a low seed and making the finals did effect the CTR last year.  Cleveland (Tyson) was the CTR #13 ranked team.  However in 2008/09, the CTR predicted Las Vegas and Dallas as being the two best NHLP teams and of course Dallas beat Las Vegas in the NHLP finals.  The CTR Nailed Florida in 2007/08 as NHLP winners and many other winners over the years.  The CTR really does work.  It isn't a perfect science, but it is not a guess either.  If you are near the top, you have a good team and a better shot at winning, near the bottom, a bad team with little hope as is.  The nice thing is you have the power to change your teams position at any time.  This will be on-going and ever changing all year.  How it works - Teams will move up and down based on their Transactions, NHLP Standings (Points back or points to give), Players Points,  Depth Charts, PP Time on the ice and mainly the NHL standings.  You may not like the teams seeded 1st in each Conference to win it all, but the CTR does not go by gut feelings, only 100% statistics.  It holds truest when there are no upsets (but when is that?).  This is the NHLP Power Rankings.

1 1613 (H1 - 2115, L10 - 1004) Shawn

(East)
Seven playoff players and still sitting in first in the East, but the Destroyers have fallen in the CTR again, even though still the best the NHLP currently has!  Three Bruins, but a NHL Bruins team that has dropped to about the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference.  Still, Franzen and Lidstrom are gold, and Henrik Sedin is a home seed.  With St Louis continuing to fall seeds, Oshie was dropped for Seguin.  Still leads the league in games remaining so will easily be able to stay high in the NHLP's Eastern Division standings, even though it will be hard to remain CTR #1.
2 1510 (L13 - 771) Michael & Ray

(West)
Datysuk, Cleary and Morrow all top seeded players in the West.  On top of this, 21 points to work with.  Now you have our attention.  GREAT WORK GUY!
3 1454 (L24 - 315) Chad

(East)
A totally unbelievable jump in the CTR, some 600 points.  The NHL Penguins have jumped seeds and GM Chad has added Letang who has been simply awesome, now with 26 points.  Crosby has been sensation to say the very least.  A full team of 7 playoff players and without Staal playing a game yet, GM Chad is only one point out of the division lead in the East.  Unless the NHL's Penguins hit the skids hard, this Penguins team will remain a threat and near the top of the NHLP CTR.
4 1447 (H4 -1502, L8 - 1099) Charlie

(East)
A slight drop in the CTR points-wise, but not in the CTR standings or the NHLP standings as GM Charlie remains 14 points out in the East.  GM Charlie is CTR #4 but only the 3rd ranked team in the tough East Division.  This team has 6 players on top two seeds.  No team can touch that!  Charlie has options galore and they will come in handy down the road as he can easily trade up if the division doesn't trade down.  This team is in the elite category and may at some later point be the team to beat in the entire NHLP!!!  They just can't score!
5 1418 (L15 - 703)  Joel

(West)
GM Joel has CLIMBED...and climbed to a season high CTR at 1418 as well as 40 points up in the West, on 5th place.  Seems content on carrying Stewart and why not?  Stewart is a playoff player, as is, who is over a point per game.  Getzlaf and Peverley are just barely rated, but are rated, making 7 rated players in the CTR rankings.  Tambellini is the highest seeded player on this team, and he is scoring a lot of points, so helping this rating right now at the moment.  Will he slow?  At 40 points up on 5th in the West Division...does it really matter?
6 1399 (H2 - 1655, L12 - 971) Andrew

(North)
The Flyers are the team here for GM Andrew.  Continued to be led by Giroux and Carter.  Andrew has the top rated team outside the East and West.  Hossa will be back soon, but Chicago needs to win some games, so Andrew has worth from him.  Only Kovalev is not rated, and position is very tight, being only 6 points clear of 5th in the North.  The CTR has dropped, but the team clearly remains, one of the NHLP's best.
7 1359 (L15 - 784) Shawn

(South)
Richards has moved into a top seed with the hot play of Dallas and GM Shawn's Wolverines have followed suit in the CTR.  Only Iginla is not rated here.  Shawn is 14 points clear of 5th and the top rated South Division club.  Clearly he can do something with those points, with his coming waiver, possibly packaging Iggy with Turris to improve his CTR.
8 1325 (L19 - 651) Charlie

(South)
Zetterberg and Bertuzzi are the backbone here on a team with a lot of position to improve.  Samuelsson has increased his seeding, but still nothing from Havlat and Myers.  These are two players totaling about 34 points to the minors.  You might want to act now!
9 1304 (L24 - 67) Tyson

(South)
A huge jump up the CTR Rankings with Vancouver and Dallas both higher seeds for Neal, Kesler and Raymond.  Still ok position in the South and 7 rated players.
10 1142 (H5 - 1446, L9 1075) Ryan

(East)
Will miss Downie for a few weeks as every point here will matter for the entire season.  Still led by Semin, who has been great, and has 6 playoff players, but is in a tough East Division.  Dropped in the CTR thanks mostly to Columbus, Minnesota and St Louis all dropping NHL seeds.
11 1123 (L12 - 876) Scott

(East)
How serious is Kane's injury?  Markov's leg bent like that and he is gone for the season!  Kane is a young fellow, but it was an ugly bend and GM Scott will be holding his breath until he hears the extent of the damage.  After all that, Chicago is the lowest rated team in the West, only rated due to the kindness of the CTR, who's formula does not drop teams out of the CTR Rankings (NHL Standings), but includes teams that can come back in the NHL Standings, by grabbing average points, in their games at hand.  Teams behind Chicago will pass them, via games at hand, unless Chicago starts winning!  A big waiver has led to a season high CTR, thanks mainly to the Dallas Star's top seed.  The Stars are holding down the second seed in the West, behind only Detroit and GM Scott now has Benn to compliment Eriksson.
12 1076 (H1 - 1648, L12 - 834) Matt

(South)
No auctions from GM Matt and with good reason.  Gagne is back and back in a big way.  Five points in 3 games!  Fleischmann got traded, but got two points in his first game with the Avs, so it might work out well for Matt.  Mike Richards is still the top dog here, but Ribeiro isn't far behind at all.  Langenbrunner will help the scoring, so we expect more good things from Matt as the season moves forward.
13 998 (H3 - 1600) Michael & Ray

(North)
A 600 point drop has made this team look average at best.  The bright spot is Stamkos, who continues to be great.  There is also the 12 point lead over 5th, but after that, things are starting to fade.  A total of 58 points from three players, who are not playoff players, is very bleak with the top scoring playoff player in the minors around 17 points!  If the standings don't change here, this team may be in big trouble.
14  858 (H7 - 1294)   Marcel

(South)
Staal has fallen out of the playoffs as GM Marcel has fallen to a season low CTR.  Kopitar and Smyth clearly have value, but the team continues to struggle scoring, and Perron is clearly missed.  Hudler may be on the first place Red Wings, but with 6 points in 21 games, Marcel could score better at a local strip joint.
15   821 (H6 - 1337, L16 - 606) Joel

(North)
The San Jose Sharks have not been great.  Actually they are barely even good right now, and rated only by our big hearts.  This team needs San Jose to start winning, as this is the best Sharks team there is in the NHLP.  Parse has hurt, but LA is still a home seed, and this team has the hot Williams.  It is all Sharks here, and right now, that can't be a good thing for GM Joel.
16 815 (H14 - 895, L23 - 425) Jr

(West)
Hejduk has been great, but Colorado is barely in the NHL playoffs, at best.  Briere and Green are the big boys here, as both are worth a fortune in the new NHLP.  This team can afford to move an asset, as they have low numbers to go to the minors.  Those points will be needed, and important, if one of those names are dealt by GM Jr.  Has a coming waiver, so expect some action here soon.
17 809 (H9 - 1209, L20 - 540) Tyson

(East)
Los Angeles has drop seeds and Doughty and Simmonds have a combined 14 points in 44 games.  Hardly exciting!  Too many fringe players have finally caught up as the CTR drops a whopping 400 points.  If it weren't for Backstrom this team would be a lot of fun to trash talk about in the CTR.  That may yet come!  This division is close, as the Fury are only 13 out of first, but they aren't near as good as the rest of the division, as the CTR proves
18 764 (H17 - 770, L18 - 534)  Andrew

(West - Pacific)
Setoguchi and Malkin are battling injuries, and although neither should be serious, GM Andrew is in tough and every point matters here in the Pacific.  Rolston is clearly an asset here, as he will be needed to go to the minors with either Selanne, Hemsky or both at some point, as those players just can't stick here, as is.
19 742 (H2 - 1365, L22 - 333) Chad

(North)
Well, GM Chad did take the CTR's advice and unload low scoring Modano, but only because Modano suffered a serious, long-term injury.  Three players are not rated for Chad's Leafs.  Daniel Sedin is God here and the rest, well, they aren't getting too many other NHLP GM's too excited.
20 698 (H17 - 821, L20 - 470) Matt

(North)
Savard is finally back, but has yet to get a point so far.  Scoring is no issue here for GM Matt, but the team still has fallen again in the CTR.  A whole lot of fringe players, even though the position is good.  Position will likely become great as Savard starts his climb , with some points himself.  Of the 5 players on this team, who have 20+ points, Lucic is the highest seeded player and is only a 6th seed.  Ouch!
21 517 (H13 - 951, L20 - 456) Scott

(West)
Markov will become some deadbeat, but an important low number if Atlanta, Colorado or Chicago fade.  If those teams come back, this team can take on someone else's deadbeat, with three players under 5 points.  The CTR sucks, even after 7 transactions (Edmonton has been in on 1 in 4 of all transactions in the entire league) on the season!
22 258 (H3 - 1207, L24 - 159) Jr

(South)
Dropping from 11 to 19 points out with 6 fringe/not rated players, the up coming waiver should be interesting.  Clearly this isn't a team going anywhere as is.  Expect something to happen.
23 181 (H22 - 502) Marcel

(North)
14 to 30 to 43.

That is how many points GM Marcel's Habs were out 10 games ago, than 5 games ago and now at the 25 point mark.  Basically, anyone can see, he is fading fast! At 43 points out and carrying assets of Cammalleri, Pronger, Subban and Handzus....can be best described as "Being on the Titanic with a life jacket".  The ship is sinking fast, and you have about three to four hours, to decide what exactly you are going to do, with only that little wee fucking life jacket, in the middle of the Atlantic, in freezing water!
24 171 (H16 - 870, L24 - 169) Ryan

(West)
I'm speechless!

The NHLP has always came out with the Cup Threat Rating (CTR) a couple times a year.  The CTR is also known as the Power Rankings in the NHLP.  It is a time perfected, skill based, best prediction of what teams are the best and what teams have the best chance of winning it all.  It is very accurate.  Like last year it predicted Las Vegas and Dallas as being the two best NHLP teams and of course Dallas beat Las Vegas in the NHLP finals.  Nailing Florida the year before as NHLP winners and many winners over the years.  The CTR really does work.  It isn't a perfect science, but it is not a guess either.  If you are near the top, you have a good team and a shot at winning, near the bottom, a bad team with little hope as is.

Notes -

Position refers to your NHLP standings.  Good position means you have points to give and potential to improve your playoff players on your team.

Position is ranked into the statistical formula above for the rankings, however, Position disappears from the ranking in the very end when the playoffs are decided and we predict the final cup favorites.  It might mean something now to have 50 points to give, so now we give you potential points so to speak.  If you do nothing with them, in the end, your standings and your 50 points mean nothing.

Fringe refers to your playoff players are near 6,7 and 8 spots, not great for the CTR, but still better than non playoffs which are useless.
